I haven't started a game thread this season, so here goes nothing. As frustrating as this season has been, it's time to put up or shut up!

Lineups TBD

MadBum starting tonight but if the season is still in doubt on Sunday I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him then again in long relief.

Cubs up early on the Cardinals. If they manage to beat them today, the Dodgers will survive and make it in unless they get swept this weekend.

But making it to a one game wild card do or die road game with your #3/4 starter is not what I planned our post season to look like.

Vs the Brewers no less. I'd rather face the Cubs, Braves, or Cards. Brewers are just as hot & dangerous as the Rockies coming down the stretch.

Roberts robo lineup vs LH/MadBum is going to include Kemp & Taylor who are a combined 13-72 vs him. 4 Giants rake vs Ryu but only 2 Dodgers, Kike & Freese, rake vs MadBum. Phone Booth Park has been a nightmare venue for the Dodgers for years. Bochy consistently manages circles around Roberts. Bottom line is that the Dodgers are in trouble. Roberts & the team failed to avoid the worst possible scenario, to have their season hinge on this last series in SF.

I'll be at Phone Bill Park tonight watching it in person. It beats having to listen to K&K on the Gints feed at home.

Not having a good feeling about this. I hope the bad vibes are just my imagination.

I remember going to SF for the final series for the Dodgers. I think it was 1991 and the Dodgers were in a similar position to where they are now, without the Wild Card "safety net." They were battling Atlanta for first place and the Houston effin' Astros started a rookie named Jeff Juden against the Braves in Atlanta on Saturday. If memory serves the Dodgers were eliminated on Saturday when the Braves lit up the rookie and they showed the carnage on the Jumbotron at Candlestick. I remember NOT going to the meaningless Sunday game, even though we had bought tickets.

Art Howe was the Houston manager who ran this kid with no experience (an no future) out there in a crucial game. The one thing that still sticks in my craw is that the Dodgers later hired Howe as a coach.

Ryu on the road has been a different pitcher as well. At home, he seems like a Cy Young level guy at times.

So will my son and his girlfriend and best friend. They have seats by that stupid glove thing. Knowing his friend, they may start some fights. His friend is police officer in either Montana or Idaho, someplace where they can still shoot you for stealing a horse.

I learned about 20 years ago never to start fights with random people especially those who are calmer than you are at the time. My Kenpo instructor was this skinny guy who looked like a wet noodle and was about 5’8. The louder and bigger they are, the harder they tend to fall. It’s the quiet little ones that you worry about especially in public places.

It's easy to get into a brawl in SF. Theirs are the most arrogant MF's I've ever been around. Astro fans are a close second.

It's not like the Candlestink Park days, but there still are the occasional brawls that break out. I used to go all decked out in Dodger jacket. Now I probably won't even wear a cap, too much aggravation dealing with the local yahoos who consider their season a success if their crappy team can knock us out. The Pantone 294 group is supposed to be there tomorrow, so that should be interesting.

Had no idea it was THAT bad.
Yep, ownage. Nobody likes to believe me about the Giant/Dodger matchups. You can throw out records, injured players, good or bad season, pitching matchups, etc. The Giants just have that killer instinct when it comes to beating the Dodgers. They've been talking about this particular series for 2 weeks & how they'll oust them from the playoffs. Each Rockie win has them crowing like the douche bags they all are.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but if the Dodgers and Rockies finish tied, then I'm assuming it's a 2006 repeat where the winner of the head to head takes the division, right? Or have certain things changed in light of the additional 18 wild cards now in place?
