Dynasty: The 2025-2026 Offseason Thread

I feel like they're going to wreck this kid's confidence. There's really not much of a road for him to get any sort of consistency when he barely gets any AB's and then it's back to the bench. Maybe they can get him more AB’s but just moving him all around isn’t the answer in my opinion. Part of getting locked in is knowing your routine. Rushing isn’t Kike. He’s a kid who hasn’t found his groove yet and the Dodgers aren’t helping him in that regard with all this word salad of what they plan to do with him. Vets can work within that but not every guy is a Swiss Army Knife. This kid’s going to have to split time learning 1B and OF all while trying to be a legit C as well? Carrying 3 gloves everywhere he goes. That’s just on the Defense side. Having all that shit going on in his head isn’t going to help him be locked in as a hitter because outside of Catching, one of it is natural for him. Even a superior athlete like Mookie has seen how moving to SS can affect his hitting and he’s a unicorn.

I hate the way this has gone but I understand considering Will's such an asset and nowhere close to being at the age to move off Catching.

Rortvedt was really the perfect backup Catcher because he knew the role, the pitchers trusted him and there was no dropoff.

The Dodgers have made a mistake here losing that guy to CIN in my opinion but we'll see how it plays out.
Rushing is also handicapped by being much better against RH pitchers. But h is role is to rest Will, not to platoon. He'll be forced to face many lefties because he'll start when they want to rest Will , not because a righty is starting.

Yeah, agree. I just feel like this kid has a huge mountain to climb and the Dodgers aren't helping him in that regard. If he has another bad season Offensively then his value just goes into the tank along with this confidence.

I see Busch in this kid. If he goes somewhere else, he ends up thriving but here he is just land-locked.

What, no mention of the Padres' owner Peter Seidler dying yesterday?

Bellinger seems very remote as a Dodger option. He’ll be the consolation prize and get a ton of money from the team that loses on Tucker.
It sounds like one team won’t be competing for the top end free agents with the Dodgers. The Seidler’s are looking into selling the Padres, so no big ticket items this winter. Bellinger is a better fit money wise and he seems to be in better health than Tucker. The fact that he can play CF plays into his fit with the Blue. Pages is a true RF and we can’t count on Edman and the other names out there on the market are poor fits for the Dodgers in the outfield. I still don’t buy the Guards moving Kwan unless they get a deal they can’t pass up. Kind of like the deal the A’s got for Mason Miller. I can’t see a team dealing their number one prospect for Kwan, when he’s two years from free agency.

Heard an unconfirmed rumor that the Dodgers signed Bellinger. No details. Anybody else hear this>
Nothing like that on any of my feeds. I’ve read some stupid rumors, too. We are signing Goldschmidt? To do what, pray tell? Then there’s the one where Kyle Tucker refused $500MM from Cohen because he despises Juan Soto. You can’t dream this stuff. Regarding Bellinger, I am liking the idea. If Tucker does hate on Soto, the Yankees might set their sights higher. But the devil’s advocate in me says Prince Hal is shy about adding $300 to $500MM to his team even though his TV deal is the stuff of wet dreams.

Just hope we don't see some whale like what we have come in and buy the Padres and open up the wallet even more.

Saw the explanation on how we lost Rortvedt. We signed him to a $1.25MM contract and tried to pass him through waivers to open up a roster spot, hoping he’d pass through waivers so they could outright him to Oklahoma City. But, the Reds claimed him. Money says he will end up being waived by the Reds sometime this winter. They don’t really need a third catcher.

Unfortunately that is extremely likely to happen given how expensive all sports franchises have become. Only whales need apply.

DOWN TO HELL.

Exactly... Down to San Diego.

I'm all seriousness, one of the reasons I said it was that we'd finally be rid of him once and for all.

If it happened, he’d be required to sell the parking lot back to the team, as it would be a conflict of interest.

McCourt should have the scratch to buy the Padres unless Olympique de Marseille has broke him and unlike the Premier League, Lique 1 is not full of sheikhs owning the teams. It would be hard for him to get the votes.to buy the Padres, I’d think. Hell, he practically bankrupted the Dodgers.

Dodgers are doing their due diligence on Rasiel Iglesias. His second half was quite good, but he’s also 36 and his start last season was a horror movie. Also noted that the Royals will listen on lefty Kris Bubic. The Royals are in need of young controllable outfielders and a second baseman who can hit. The Nationals seem to be willing to move Mackenzie Gore. He has struggled in DC, but the stuff is intriquing. The Nats are looking three years done the turnpike, so it isn’t like they need to get back anyone in the show. I am sure, if Andy wants him, he can find a prospect to satisfy the Nats.
