Ugh, watching Kershaw is going to be difficult this year...

Hmmmm a little early...he looked pretty good to me.

My comment was definitely a little premature... but that first inning was downright PTSD-inducing. His velo is (once again) down; sitting 88-91... While you could argue that is due to it being first week of season, his ST workload should’ve gotten him season ready. What is definitely a good sign: he’s thus far kept the ball in the yard (including at Coors!)

I actually noticed that in the picture immediately but didn't comment ( I really wanted to, believe me) because you all might have thought I was pervy. As for giving Beaty that awesome moniker...NO WAY. Beaty will have to prove it on the field.
Fair enough. If I can't give Beaty a nickname, then I shall dub Pollock: The Nutcracker.

Who the F cares about velocity when your slider is biting the back of the hitters heel at 88-89. If the curveball and change are also working that fastball will look like 98. Kershaw is a pitcher now working on guile and savvy much more than being overpowering. Not many Pitchers can ever make that maturation. He is a true Hall of Famer! Hell so we’re Hershiser and Valenzuela but that is another topic.

This was something that well more than half of all pitchers are doing but Bauer made the mistake of opening his big mouth about it. That plus his dramatic and obvious improvement in spin rate and overall efficacy made him the obvious test case.
If baseball is finally looking to completely implode upon itself, it’ll head down this road. With the moving of the AS Game out of a majority black city, to a predominantly white one; and now taking on this fight... they’re picking an odd couple of hills to die on... Bauer is the martyr baseball needs!

wonder where the articles about balls from every other pitcher being taken out of play in literally every other game this season are? Also lol to MLB who already has “sources” talking to gossip bloggers about a supposedly confidential process a week into the season

He's absolutely correct about this. It's the same game media and government play on a daily basis: manufacture and leak the "news" you want told, and suppress the news you don't. I'm almost beyond giving a crap about any of it at this point.

Howdy everybody. I'm gonna give it a go and come back to the BBWC. I miss the banter.

Unfortunately, I'm in the hospital with COVID right now. Been sick all week, finally got tested at the ER, and they gave me a bed.

I've been lurking a bit this offseason, not yet logging in.
Get well soon! Welcome back!

It would seem that Manfred cannot pick fights he can win. He takes the All Star game out of Atlanta because of corporate pressure and puts it in Denver because of the left lean of that state and city. That is backfiring huge already. I think Manfred forgets that the fans are the backbone of this thing and pulling shit like this to make someone like Taco Bell or Nike happy is right stupid. Then, he singles out Bauer for something that most pitchers are doing because it is not covered in the rules. The MLBPA has already squawked they will hit back hard if Manfred decides to pull something and given that Manfred is a freaking idiot, I figure he will pick this fight and in all likelihood this will affect the CBA negotiations. It is time for the owners to cut loose this clown before he does irreparable damage to the game.

If Manfred wants to focus on cheating how about this:
Funny how the jackass Manfred and his pet idiot, Joe Torre, have nothing to say on this issue. Makes one wonder if kissing Steve Cohen's ass is the new pasttime in the MLB offices.
We are on the period of basic calm, before the fans go into the “burn it all down” mode... Our beloved game won’t survive this war! Just about done with this crap! Heck, I’m thinking Bauer needs to go to the mound for his warm up pitches before his next start wearing a superhero cape...

Too late on the irreparable damage. I have several acquaintances, while not rabid fans like us, watch games on tv, occasionally spring for a ticket, and buy merchandise. Most of them have vowed NEVER to spend a nickel on mlb products, games, or subscriptions again.

Cody to the IL, Luke Raley recalled. No Mookie again in the lineup. Dodgers are skipping May & Kershaw will go Sunday. Damn, they're already commencing the babying of May. Hate it.
