The blueprint of the ideal leadoff hitter has changed. The Maury Wills, Brett Butler, Dee Gordon types are not necessarily what the teams try to slot into the #1 spot in the order. The stolen base is almost a product of a bygone era, so the leadoff guy doesn't have to steal bases. It's nice if he's fast enough to go first to third, etc., but the primary prerequisite in a good OBP. Turner, Muncy, Seager, or Bellinger all get on base at a decent enough clip. You might not want to waste Muncy's home run power, or Turner's clutch hitting at the top, though.
