Well, I am not going to feel bad that the Rams got a break. The officiating was weak on both sides of the ball. Unless the NFL adopts a protest rule similar to baseball and retroacitvely implements it, the media complaining and stomping their little feet is nothing more than sour grapes. All it sounds like to me is that the Saints and their fans are deflecting. They should've blew the Rams out in the first quarter, but two chip field goals and touchdown before the Rams got a first down was disappointing. The Saints' offense never got in sync, either because of the Rams' defense or that Brees wasn't able to go downfield, but the Saints has multiple early opportunities to turn the game into a rout and failed. One call, no matter how egregious, doesn't really let the Saints off of the hook. They had all of the advantages, home field, raucous crowd, the Rams' offense being MIA for the first twenty minutes of the game and Todd Gurley being hurt(?), sick(?), distracted(?) or all of the above and still lost. I am sorry, but the press whining over one no call is not going to win me over.
I have no dog in this hunt and had no rooting interest at all in this game. I understand that there are things going on all over the field away from the play and officials can't see every infraction. Some fouls are not obvious until seeing a slow motion replay. But every eye watching the game is following the ball on a pass and for officials to miss two absolutely blatant and obvious fouls on the same play easily visible in real time from every direction in the heart of a pass play like that is completely incomprehensible to me.

That goes back to employing geriatrics as referees in my original complaint. But, because Goodell has the backbone of pasta, he will continue to toe the line and not try to get younger and more athletic officials. Hockey and basketball have managed to "young" their officiating crews and I tend to think that football officials need to be more athletic and agile than in any other sport, ergo lose the guys who can't pass a more strenuous athletic qualifications. It just seems that too many officials are out of position because they don't move well or at all.

Chris has a lot of hate for Goff.
Goff was terrible but he's not the type of QB who can make plays under big time pressure. There are very few who can succeed without a good to decent offensive line. Goff doesn't have a quick release, make quick reads, or use his feet to overcome pressure. The running game is their bread & butter but McVay has relied on the passing game the last 2 contests while hardly using Gurley. That game plan worked right into Belichick's happy place. They were able to blitz Goff up the middle all night. Plenty of blame to go around for the ugly ass play on offense though. I HATE THE PATRIOTS.

Rams will have to suffer the don't belong in the SB narrative all year.

He is just sitting in her office with his headphones on probably watching something not so aggravating. I thought the Lammies defense played a great game but they were on the field all day and I think they gave up on the run too early. It was just sad watching their young coach look stupid. I tried to tell Chris there is next year but all he said is that too much money is tied up in too few players and they need to find a quarterback because in 2 years Goff is gone because he is gutless and still not accurate enough. He also said the refs paid them back for their missed call by calling some really bad calls on the Rams.

That was a shitty night of sleep. If you would've told me we would've held the Patriots to thirteen points on Saturday, I would be about as happy as possible because I knew we could score more than that. Never took into consideration that Goff's weak mind and Gurley's lack of guts would come into play in the biggest game of the year. That interception in the first quarter was the freaking high point. Watching Goff and Gurley in that three and out should've told me they were not ready for this game. I can blame McVay for giving up on the running game or ask how come out tight ends were not even targeted? But, it all goes back to Goff and Gurley. Sure, the line could've done a better job, but that is on McVay for not trying a short pass offense or quit running between the tackles when it wasn't working.

I also have some hate for the officiating. They knew when to throw flags. That first quarter penalty on Robey-Coleman was about as much bullshit as any call I have ever seen, but the holding penalty on Sullivan was pure hogwash and that was about all it took. I could tell early the officials were going to punish the Rams for their inadequacies and it showed during the game. I saw, at least, five hands to the face type penalties by the Patriots not get called on their defensive line, even one where the I think it was Saffold's mouthpiece was knocked out of his mouth and yet no calls. But, as long as Goodell is a spineless piece of shit and keeps employing old men to call his games, the game will suffer. Almost makes me want to apologize to MLB umpires en masse for at least being right a helluva lot more than the clowns the NFL employs. So, what? Two weeks to catchers and pitchers?
