Hi guys, so tomorrow (12-31-18) is the day both the Xenforo support, domain and hosting expire. Now I can renew all three, but for the purposes of being cost-efficient, and so I can virtue signal about how frugal I am, I've done the following:
1. We're going to transition back to Yuku. Yes, I'm aware of the occasional performance issues, but I assure you, at least 75% of the time it functions. Also, studies have shown performance is relatively comparable to Xenforo and other top forum providers during that 75% uptime. Unfortunately, some have noted Yuku tends to go completely AWOL in October, but, thus far, it's a small sample size. We have to trust the process.
Since you can't blame someone for going with the percentages, and since this is free, this should be a sound decision you all endlessly praise me for. I'm getting value, I'm being cost-efficient, and, frankly, that's all that matters. For the times it crashes? Well, that's just technology being technology. Nothing you can do about that.
2. There are certain, shall we say, feature differences between Yuku and Xenforo. One of these being that Yuku only handles up to 5 logins at a time. Now you may initially find this problematic during this season for game threads, or even during the offseason as moves are being made. Fret not, though. This will give us an opportunity to utilize a modern way of forum posting, specifically a platoon system. For example, during game threads:
BCMaiden, Matthew, Beef, Jerry, Torgy (Innings 1-3)
David, TxDodger, Hagdag, Golfer Girl, Claude Osteen (Innings 4-7)
Shmolnick, BigBlaster, Newport Dodger, Petro, derrickm (Innings 8-9)
Some may call this a limitation... I call it depth. You're welcome.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
