Roberts on Dozier and Kike:
"Dozier, who led off the past two nights, is 0-for-4 in the series, but he has drawn two walks, and Roberts said he liked the "quality" of his at-bats.
Roberts said Hernandez, 0-for-6 with three strikeouts, was over-swinging but added: "There's just certain players that I believe in, and I think he's on that list."

The World Series isn't a time to keep putting a guy out there that has struggled mightily for the entire post-season because he's a player "that I believe in". Especially when you have other options and find yourself down 0-2 in the series.
This is a reason why Roberts will never get it. You don't manage this way. It proves that he has no feel for the game and just plays his guys. How can a manager win consistently when he basically is saying that he won't put out the best lineup he can because he has "His guys," that will always trump that? When you are facing 0-2 and you just say screw you to everyone and go with who you like just because you like them it's ego talking.

One look at Bellinger in CF last night catching that ball showed that he probably had a much better chance of getting that one in Game 1 that Kike gave up on and let hit the base of the wall.

My general rule is, if you can't find an offensive force to play a position, they better be a defensive force. For that reason, Dozier shouldn't be in the starting lineup at 2B, and most definitely should not be batting leadoff.

Kike can't hit a lick right now, but he's a very good defensive 2B who likely would have made a critical play or two that Dozier was unable to make.

Bellinger, despite being offensively inept as well, is STILL better offensively (under every circumstance) than Kike or Dozier. Plus, he is the best CF we have.

Kike @ 2B and Bellinger @ CF is at least defensible given that they are probably the best defensive options we have, and there isn't anybody better offensively to replace them.

In the end though, when your entire offense can only muster 3 hits it's going to be tough to win no matter what strings you pull from the dugout.

There have been a lot of theories that the Dodgers should target Whit Merrifield from the Royals in trade for a 2B. They would be buying high on a guy who has had 2 solid seasons and is not yet 30. With Lux down on the farm, that blocks him from the near future but Merrifield can't be a FA until 2023 and isn't arb eligible until 2020. The guy make $570k this year. This is the type of trade that the Dodgers should make rather than do the Kike/Muncy 2B experiment. Lux is still 3 years away from starting.
