We have some fantastic talent. What is even crazier is San Diego. Their top 10 prospects are all in the Top 100. That franchise is going to be good at some point.
Here’s the thing though, the talent gap at the MLB is so big that SD needs to have almost all those prospects hit big (without trading any for other pieces) just to be close to the Dodgers. The Blue trade Ruiz? Cool, they have Smith, Cartaya, Wong. I would throw May against any Padre prospect. The Padres have a great infield prospect? Lux is looking like a monster. Hoese, Busch, etc etc etc. And that’s to compliment a team already filled with Belli, Buehler, Seager, Verdugo, Muncy, Urias, etc. The Padres are Machado, a couple of very good kids....and?

It was just a few years ago that the Padres had a bunch of “can’t miss” prospects like Austin Hedges and Hunter Renfroe.

Gonsolin got shelled again today. He's been terrible in OKC ever since the beating he took for L.A.

Not doubting that that’s what the article says but how is May the 35th best prospect overall but not in the top 10RH’s? Weird.

There are 10 RHP ranked between #1 and #34.

02. Casey Mize - DET
14. Nate Pearson - TOR
17. Forrest Whitley - HOU
18. Michael Kopech - CHW
25. Dylan Cease - CHW
26. Sixto Sanchez - MIA
28. Mitch Keller - PIT
29. Matt Manning - DET
33. Luis Patino - SDP
34. Ian Anderson - ATL

Similar to Lux / SS. He's the #10 Prospect, but 5th SS.

01. Wander Franco - TBR
07. Royce Lewis - MIN
08. Dante Bichette Jr - TOR
09. Bobby Witt - KCR
10. Gavin Lux - LAD

"So much for burying the Red Sox. In the hours after the Red Sox smacked the Yankees 19-3 at Fenway, the Bombers’ focus turned back to themselves. The starting pitching has been brutal for five straight games now, and time is running to improve it, with the MLB trade deadline next Wednesday, July 31. The Yankees’ five starters had a disastrous turn through the rotation, allowing a combined 40 runs in just 17.2 innings pitched. According to YES, the last time that the Yankees had starters allow six or more runs in five consecutive games was in August of 1945."

Why are they waiting? 3 man bench is ridiculous. Sure seems like a perfect time to see Lux.
Would calling up Lux now cost them a year of control over him? When I heard Roberts yesterday he was asked by Casey Stern about Lux who said he was obviously ready. Roberts seemed evasive and said something like his time will come in due time.

Don't think so, but I don't follow that stuff. The issue is being on the bench & not playing everyday since Seags will be playing everyday & they want Max @2B so Joc can play 1B.

They want him to continue to play everyday, which wouldn't happen on the MLB roster.

They can bring him up after September 1st, once the AAA season is over, to get him acclimated to the MLB without accruing any service time.

I think that is what "due time" means.

You're probably right although Roberts said he thought Lux could be successful playing any of the infield positions. Then again, he;s the same guy who thinks Joc can play first.

It also could be that he's not on the 40 man roster. There is a spot open, and a lot of dead wood there, but with the trade deadline approaching, there's no telling what the 40 man will look like on August 1st.

Nah, like you said there's a few garbage players taking up spots plus guys like Rios could be involved in a trade.
